The Regional Communications and Public Relations Officer is a key role requirement to fulfil the requirements of the Legion.
The Regional Communications and Public Relations Officer is an integral role in the structure and functions of the Legion, with the responsibility for maintaining identity of the Legion in line with Regional and Branch Committees.
Answerability
Answerable to the Regional Chairman, regarding all Communication and Public Relations matters and report back directly to the Regional Chairman or in his absence, to the Regional Vice-Chairman.
To work closely with the Regional and Branch Committees and is expected to provide reports or similar information to the Committee when required.
Legion Constitution, By-Laws, Policy and Procedures and Guidelines
Keep up to date with all Constitution, By-Laws, Policy and Procedures and Guidelines as issued from time to time.
Regular contact with the various Committees and Sub-Committees, especially regarding clarification of any instructions received from the Regional and Branch Committees as well as Sub-Committees
The Role and Responsibilities of the Communications and Reporting Coordinator
The Communications and Public Relations Officer will support our internal and external communications strategy, write and disseminate publicity material, respond to inquiries from the public and media, and coordinate promotional events
The Communications and Public Relations Officer should be able to think creatively, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Collaborate with the Regional and Branch Committees to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on the Legions target audience
Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services
Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization
Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database
Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the Legion, and coordinate publicity events as required
Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics
Proficiency in design and publishing software
Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to management
Is responsible for arranging the publication of news and articles within mainstream media, with the intention of raising the public profile and awareness of the Branch
Is responsible for ensuring that any events are suitably advertised and reported on
