The SAAF in the Korean War

Category : Articles

Excellent and extremely rare original colour photograph of North American F-51D Mustang fighters of No. 2 Squadron of the South African Air Force (SAAF) whilst involved in the Korean War. Here they are seen conducting run-ups at their base in Korea in 1951. This particular F-51D Mustang No. 346 – featured in the photograph – crashed on 29/11/1951 tragically killing the pilot Capt Janse van Rensburg.
